WILLIAM GRAHAM ACKNOWLEDGES PROMPT ACTION IN ‘STOMACH BUG’ SCHOOL

a media release issued on Tuesday 21 November 2006

William Graham AM (Conservative education spokesman) responding to the news that Henllys Church in Wales School in Cwmbran will remain shut until Friday on the advice of the National Public Health Service, because of a "virulent" stomach bug:

“I support the prompt action taken by Headteacher, staff and Public Health Service in dealing with this matter”.

“Pleased that it appears to be contained, but parents should ensure basic personal hygiene routine is followed by their children”.

“Parents should not send children back to school for 2 days after fully recovering from the symptoms”.

“I understand that the virus is thought to have been ‘passed on’ through the air and appreciate that the building will be thoroughly cleaned before the children return to school”.
